Yemeni-Djiboutian summit held in Sana'a

SANA'A - President Ali Abdullah Saleh and President Ismael Omar Guelle of Djibouti held talks last Monday and Tuesday in Sana'a after the visit of the President of Djibouti was twice delayed over the past two weeks.
The Sana'a summit focused on a variety of issues of common concern. The talks concentrated on maintaining a strong security presence in the region, the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea, within the context of the fight against terrorism in order to provide security and stability for the area.
Emir of Qatar visits Yemen

Sheikh Hamad Ben Khalifa Al-Thani, Emir of Qatar arrived in Sana'a last Wednesday in a two-day official visit to Yemen.
President Saleh and the Emir of Qatar held talks on boosting bilateral co-operation in various fields. Latest developments in the region were also reviewed during the talks.
President Declares Amnesty for the Secessionists on the Eve of May 22

SANA'A – President Saleh announced an amnesty to the punishments issued against those who were convicted in the grave felony number 5 for the year1997, in annual speech on the eve of the National Day, May 22.
“We have repeatedly reiterated our keenness to unify and consolidate efforts to build up the homeland,” President Saleh addressed the nation. “We issued the general amnesty decree during the sedition of the 1994 summer war according to which many of the misled returned home. In continuation to this policy, we announce on this great occasion an amnesty to the punishments issued against those who were convicted in the grave felony. We call upon them to participate in the build-up of the homeland, which is big enough for every one,” he went on.

SANA'A, April 27 (Saba) - President Ali Abdullah Saleh cast his vote on Sunday in Constituency 11 of the capital, Sana'a. Yemen is witnessing its third parliamentary elections following two successful experiences over the past decade of unification. After giving his voice, President Ali Abdullah Saleh delivered remarks to local, Arab, and international media expressing his satisfaction with the people's participation in the parliamentary elections and the heading of voters to polling stations in all constituencies across the country.

SANA'A, May 11 (Saba) - His Excellency President Ali Abdullah Saleh opened the first session of the new Parliament on Sunday, May 12. The President said, “I am happy to open this first session of the new Parliament and I give my thanks and greetings to the Supreme Commission for Elections and Referenda and its committees for the efforts they put into the registration and preparatory procedures that were taken to make the elections succeed.”
Yemen and Iran Wrap Up Successful Talks

SANA'A, May 16 (Saba) - President Ali Abdullah Saleh held a final session of talks with visiting Iranian president Mohammed Khatami on Friday afternoon in the Republican Palace. The Yemeni and Iranian leaders stressed the imperative of putting into better effect cooperation protocols between Yemen and Iran and the coordination of bilateral efforts to ensure regional security and serve the two brotherly nations. They confirmed the fact that there was enough room and potential for further cooperation and that this potential should be used to serve bilateral cooperation.
