President Saleh arrives in Asmara for talks

ASMARA July 9 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh arrived here on Sunday in Eritrean capital Asmara on an official visit to hold talks with the Eritrean President Isaias Afworki on the bilateral relations between thetwo friendly countries and ways of enhancing them in various fields. Upon arrival, President Saleh was greatly welcomed by the Eritrean President Isaias Afworki who congratulated him on the safe trip. In remarks to media, Saleh said “I am pleased and my accompanied delegation to pay this visit to the friendly Eritrea which comes in the framework of exchanging visits for serving mutual cooperation relations which we look forward to develop more and more in favor of the interests of thetwo peoples”. “In this visit, we will hold talks with President Isaias Afworki on aspects of the bilateral collaboration and ways of strengthening them in various fields including economic, trade, security and political cooperation. This visit is a chance to discuss what had been achieved of the inked agreements between the two countries as well,” Saleh said. He said he would discuss with the Eritrean president the security cooperation to secure the south of the Red Sea in addition to discussing the common investments in fishery sector according to an agreement signed between the two countries. “Our talks with the President Afworki will shed lights on many topics and the regional and international issues, on the top of which the current developments in the African horn” said Saleh.
