President Saleh receives participants of ASSECAA

SANA’A, May 08 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh received here on Tuesday participants of the second conference of the Association of Senates, Shura and Equivalent Councils in Africa and Arab world (ASSECAA). President hoped their conference succeeds, pointing out to the situation of the democracy in the world by saying: “The one party solely imposes its views without letting others express theirs but in Yemen we have political and factionalism multiplicity since 1990.” “We have freedom of speech and free journalism, and we have held three parliamentary elections and two presidential which the world testifies its impartiality,” he added. Saleh pointed out that local authority in Yemen consists of nearly 7000 leading members and that issues are transforming from ”centralization to decentralization”. ” Nowadays the situation in Yemen is excellent and the development goes well but we have concerns such as combating poverty and work with the international community in combating terror,” he said. He talked about extremism and how it grows, saying that extremism attracts young people and convince them to be extremists by absence of justice and how international laws implemented through dual standards.
