President visits Abyan
ABYAN, Nov. 05 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh paid on Monday a visit to Abyan where he listened to needs of the citizens in the governorate. Then, president Saleh held a meeting with members of the local council, officials, high profile figures, and top security and military commanders of the governorate. In the meeting, he delivered a speech in which he expressed thanks for citizens of Abyan in protecting unification of the country during war of 1949. He warned those who are playing with fire and trying to cause disorder for security and stability of the nation. Thirteen years ago, the unification became more strong, he added, noting that the country is now progressing into a new stage of development in different fields. Due to this policy of going ahead with investment and development, some elements started to organize sit-ins and protests as well as illegal acts to make obstacles in front of this policy,he said. He made it clear that there is no objections to organize sit-ins within the framework of constitution, saying that the peaceful protest is supported and protected by law. But, illegal acts aim at making restrains facing activities of investors, he said. Saleh noted that his Speech is not only for citizens of Abyan but for all people of the nation, calling on citizens to be careful from these people who lost their interests. No-one executor on any governorate even it be in the west, east,north or south, our nation is unified by its lands and people, he said. No play with fire, the Yemeni people will protect their unification, security and stability and go ahead towards comprehensive development, president said, pointing out to solutions for issues of security and military retirees. He also pointed out to the current development projects in the governorate in water and agricultural fields, asking the government to adopt allocation to set up a university and carry out rural roads in the governorate. President concluded his speech by expressing thanks for citizens of the governorate for their cooperation to face risks surrounding the nation. AH/AM Saba
