President: Zandani should be unlisted as terror supporter

WASHINGTON, May 02 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh met Wednesday with assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Frances Townsend with whom he discussed security cooperation between Yemen and the US and status of Yemeni detainees in Guantanamo Bay. Saleh claimed that Sheikh Abdul-Majeed al-Zandani should be unlisted as a supporter for terror, and that Mohammed al-Moayed, along with his escort Mohammed Zaid, should be handed over to Yemen, in addition to the rest of Yemeni detainees in Guantanamo. For her part, Townsend spoke highly on efforts exerted by Yemen in fighting terrorism, confirming continuous support by the United States for Yemen in this field. She said that the USA appreciates the effective activities taken by Yemen as a real partner in counterterrorism. KN/AM SABA
