GPC denies allegations of president’s refusal to sign Gulf initiative
SANA’A, May 02 (Saba)- A senior official of the General People’s Congress denied on Monday the opposition allegations that President Ali Abdullah Saleh had refused to sign the Gulf initiative.”The JMP allegations that the President refused to sign the Gulf initiative were unfounded. The President and the GPC and its allies have accepted the initiative and cling to its implementation as a whole”, spokesman of the GPC Tariq al-Shami said.He made clear that President Saleh had expressed his full readiness to sign the initiative after it is signed in the Saudi capital Riyadh by representatives of the GPC and the Joint Meeting Parties or the signing ceremony takes place in Sana’a in the presence of the head of the Council of the GCC member state Foreign Ministers, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed.If the signing ceremony was in Sana’a, he added, that the Gulf initiative will be signed by President Saleh for the GPC and its allies and the head of the JMP Yasin Saeed Noman for the JMP and its partners.Al-Shami also said that the GCC Secretary-General was supportive the signing takes place in Sana’a, and he will inform the GCC Foreign Ministers about this proposal.YASaba
