President Saleh chairs meeting of senior Yemeni officials
SANA’A, March 19 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh chaired on Saturday evening a joint meeting of members of the General Committee of the ruling party and a number of senior government and military officials. During the meeting, they addressed the current situations taking place in the country, particularly the unfortunate events that took place on Friday in Sana’a, Killing and wounding a number of Yemenis. The participants in the meeting was get acquired with reports relating to the latest developments in the country as well as legal actions taken by the prosecution to investigate the incident. They called on the committee formed on Friday by the National Defense Council to continue its investigations to uncover the truth associated with this incident. The committee included the Minister of Justice, Minister of Human Rights and the Attorney General in addition to three members of the opposition parties. The participants in the meeting also expressed regret and condemnation of this painful incident, accusing the opposition parties of mobilizing and inciting violence and these events. In addition, they reviewed the security situations in the light of the declaration of the state of emergency and ways to maintain security, stability, unity and social peace of the country. They also praised the efforts of security agencies to detain and kill a number of al-Qaeda serious leaders and members who had attacked security personnel. YA Saba
