President Saleh presents condolences to Saudi Monarch

SANA’A, Nov. 29 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh has sent a letter of condolence to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King of Saudi Arabia Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud over the victims of recent floods in Saudi Arabia.The news of a considerable loss of life and damages caused by floods in your country was a source of great sorrow to me, the president said.”On behalf of the people of Yemen and on my own behalf, I offer sincere condolences and sympathies to you, families of the dead and the whole people of Saudi Arabia”, Saleh said in his letter.As searching for survivors still underway, Saudi Arabia’s civil defence authority raised on Saturday the toll death from this week’s flash floods caused by heavy downpours to 106.Hundreds of people have been rescued by the defence forces in the past few days, but the toll is expected to rise further.The rainstorm has hit the western part of the country, particularly Jeddah city, including the area where many enter the kingdom for the ongoing Haj pilgrimage.None of the casualties were Hajj pilgrims, who are attending the annual Muslim haj pilgrimage 80 km away in Mecca.
