Upcoming visit of Russian President’s Representative to Yemen discussed

MOSCOW, Feb.22 (Saba) – Yemen’s ambassador to Russia Mohamed al-Hilali met here on Monday with Undersecretary of Russian Foreign Ministry for Middle East and Africa Affairs Sergei Vershinin. The two sides discussed the upcoming visit of the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cooperation in the Fight against Terrorism and Transnational Organized Crime to Yemen. In the meeting, al-Hilali conveyed Yemen’s thanks to Russia for its supportive positions to Yemen during the London meeting and the humanitarian aid presented to the displaced people due to the insurgency war in Saada province. The ambassador handed over a letter from Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi to his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, which included the Yemeni government’s appreciation for the Russian support to our country in the London meeting. The Russian official praised the wise decision of President Ali Abdullah Saleh to halt the military operations in Saada province, whishing that peace and stability prevail all over Yemen. BA Saba
